تأسست الجامعة العالمية عام 1992 وتضم حاليا ثلاث كليات: كلية العلوم الصحية، كلية العلوم الإدارية، كلية الآداب والعلوم الإنسانية. وتضم كل كلية عدة أقسام، منها قسم الدراسات الإسلامية

وللجامعة مبنيان في محلة “زقاق البلاط” ومحلة “المزرعة” في بيروت. وقد أنجز العمل في الصرح التربوي الكبير في “دوحة الحص” الواقعة على مشارف بيروت، وهو صرح تبلغ مساحته عشرين ألف متر مربع، ويتميز بالموقع القريب من بيروت والمطل على البحر، والبناء الهندسي الجميل الذي يحقق الرؤية الأكاديمية المقررة. وفي إطار رؤيتها المستقبلية وتعزيز مسيرتها الأكاديمية تعتزم الجامعة إنشاء كلية العلوم وكلية الهندسة بفروعهما المختلفة

وتهتم الجامعة بالبحث العلمي والإنتاج الأكاديمي ومعايير الجودة العالمية في نظام التعليم المتبع في كافة الاختصاصات، حتى بات معروفا مدى جدية مناهجها وبرامجها، وما تمثله شهادتها للخريجين من قيمة أكاديمية عالية أكسبتها احتراما متزايدا وصيتا وازنا

والجامعة عضو في اتحاد الجامعات العربية والاتحاد الدولي للجامعات، وتشارك بفعالية في المؤتمرات العربية والدولية بنخبة من المحاضرين والباحثين في حقول العلوم والآداب والصحة وعلوم الإدارة وعلوم الكمبيوتر والتربية والتعليم

وينظم مركز التميز الأكاديمي في الجامعة الدورات الأكاديمية التخصصية والتربوية المجانية ضمن إطار التدريب المستمر لأصحاب العمل والتخصصات المختلفة، بغية تقديم ما يطلبه سوق العمل وما توصلت إليه مراكز الدراسات والأبحاث، وجعله في متناول المديرين والأساتذة وأصحاب الاختصاصات المتنوعة. ومن ذلك: دورة “مهارات القيادة والنجاح”، دورة “اكتشف قدراتك القيادية”، دورة فن التحفيز الصفي”، دورة “مهارات التعامل مع ذوي الطباع الصعبة”. وقد نظم المركز عشرات الدورات لعشرات الشركات والمدارس والمعاهد
